The need for modernization arose due to the unavailability of original components for the hydroabrasive system and the difficulty of integrating replacement parts due to incompatibility. It was necessary to restore the operational capability of the mechanical components and expand the software’s functionality.
A comprehensive replacement of components with available alternatives was carried out (drives, sensors, logic controllers, operator panels, electrical wiring). In addition, the control system was completely redesigned using open-source software, and the software’s functionality was optimized for production tasks.

Comprehensive replacement of unavailable Siemens components with modern equivalents: grinding head and carriage drives, servo motors, controllers, operator panels, I/O modules, and safety relays. Ensuring compatibility of the control software with the new components, restoring and expanding functionality, adding diagnostic and monitoring capabilities, as well as preserving and optimizing the machine’s standard operating modes.

Specialists from VGP-SpetsTech LLC successfully completed a project to restore the operational capability of a CETOS BUC 63 cylindrical grinding machine. The primary challenge was to overcome the shortage of foreign software and service support for Siemens CNC systems. During the work, machine fixtures (lunettes) were fully integrated, including the design of electrical automation and the installation of electrical wiring.
A key step was the development of proprietary software, which fully replaced the missing software and ensured the correct interaction logic among all equipment components. Leveraging in-house capabilities allowed not only to return the machine to service but also to adapt it to the customer’s specific tasks, ensuring independence from foreign suppliers.
